Family Portraits

I begun not only painting, but also creating family portraits in 2017.

I was due to head back to my ‘day job’ from parental leave and wanted to ensure I didn’t lose the creative spirit I had discovered whilst on this time away.

In the midst of preparing and serving dinner one normal weeknight creativity decided to strike (why couldn’t it send me a calendar invite!?) and my first concept sketch in this style was developed in between crumbing schnitzels and cleaning up ANOTHER spilt cup of water!

Once the kids had gone to bed for the night, something or someone took over and I painted like a possessed woman my first small family portrait of my own family.

The first concept I created on that frenzied night....

I looked at the clock and 2 hours had passed. I could’ve sworn it was 5 minutes. That’s when I knew this was what I needed to pursue to allow my newfound creative energy to flourish amongst the return-to-work challenges that lay ahead.

I began creating portraits for friends and was lucky enough to develop a portrait for Rebecca Judd which most definitely gave my artistic venture an entrepreneurial kick up the butt (thankyou so much Bec!).

Fast forward 2 and-a-bit years and I have completed many portraits for the most incredible customers, many whom I've been lucky enough to meet in person.

Just this year I completed a portrait for the beautiful couple, Cam and Jules from the reality TV show, 'Married at First Sight' and the exposure from this work allowed me to leave my 'day job' to pursue my art full-time (yep, still pinching myself. HARD!)

Although I could book in lots of portrait commissions (still can't believe this by the way...) I am choosing quality over quantity as I firmly believe all my customers deserve the very best portrait from me.

I limit my portrait bookings to 6-monthly booking windows on account of this.

That said, I currently have a waitlist (yes, I just said waitlist - words I never imagined uttering!) I am happy to sign you up to, which will probably open up sometime late 2019 for 2020 bookings.

Please email me kelly@bergerandstuff.com (or visit the contact me page here) and I'll get back to you with pricing and details.

If you'd like to know more about the family portrait process, you can read my blog post here

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope one day I can get to know you and your family too.
